Forum - Electronic Path Forms
You will need to modify these forms before their use to suit your H.A etc. They are relatively easy to load up to EMIS. These forms have been agreed by our labs, you may need to seek the same agreement.
We use the forms in EMIS by key strokes WP then K open with patient.
The P-Touch editor software that comes with the QL-550 printer sets itself up within the word module.
Open form with current patient, click on the cell to the right of the barcode, this now contains the details for the label
(ensure that the QL-550 is set to print “small address labels”) you only have to do this once.
Click P-Touch, this pulls the highlighted info into the label software, press print as many times as you need labels.
We now use these printers in every consultation room no more writing on sample bottles, because of the barcode we get no mis-matches. It took a little while but the above is now used in most practices across West Kent H.A. The forms can be used on Vision but I am not sure about EMIS PCS.
Instructions for loading:
These forms print to paper size A5 & have been designed to work within EMIS LV & GV so I am not sure if they will work in any other version. Before the forms will work correctly it is imperative that you first copy the FONT file to the font folder that is located on your Control Panel.
Using your mouse “right” click and copy the file called COD424L3
Move your mouse cursor to the bottom left of your screen & click on start.
Go to settings then control panel and open.
Double click on the folder called “Fonts”
Place your cursor anywhere in the open folder “right” click and paste.
This FONT will then be copied to the font folder. This Font is a bar code font which will put the NHS No into barcode format to be easily read at the Lab.
Now the forms themselves you will need to put where you normally save your word documents & regularly used word templates within EMIS and this can be particular to each practice. We have saved them in our (MSWDocs on Emis) folder. This folder can be seen by opening My Network Places and it is the same folder you would be directed too, when you open a word document with current patient within EMIS. So using the copy, paste procedure locate the files appropriately.
Each file will need to be opened and personalised (edited) with your own Practice name and then saved. To make this easy to find they currently have Marden Medical Centre on them. Just delete this and edit appropriately.
You should then be able to use these forms in the normal manner, by opening document with current patient they will contain a bar coded NHS No and they will only be accepted by the Lab on A5 paper.
